Student Conduct
The Office of Student Conduct seeks to support our students by providing clear expectations of behavior, reinforcing positive outcomes, and supporting students as they discover and define themselves. During personal growth, students could make decisions that negatively impact actions. Our focus on advocacy recognizes developing strong decision-making skills is a natural part of the developmental process. Our belief in accountability acknowledges that each person is responsible for their actions.
Advocacy
Louisburg College responds with an understanding that college students are in a time of transition developmentally, professionally, and personally. In college, students face internal and external conflicts which challenge their sense of self. At Louisburg College, we seek to support students as they move through these conflicts and help them learn self-advocacy skills. This support comes from daily interaction with students and active or passive programs.
Accountability
Louisburg College believes that answerability comes in many forms. This accountability includes expectation setting with positive reinforcement of the desired behavior, restorative justice, educational meetings, peer-to-peer interaction, and the college’s student conduct process (Student Handbook). Every experience is a learning opportunity. By reflecting on their decisions, students may apply what they learned from that situation to future ventures. Being held accountable can positively affect a student’s developmental process since it encourages considering others amidst self-awareness. Suppose a student’s actions require intervention by the college. In that case, the college will help the student focus on accepting responsibility for the actions, profiting from the event, and applying this knowledge to future decisions.
